Years ago, my pastor was visiting in the home of one of his parishioners. It was a beautiful home, and the owner was giving my
pastor the nickel tour. Let me preface this by saying my pastor was a pretty
bold individual. After the tour was complete, my pastor said to his parishioner:
“This is very impressive, but when are you going to do
something big for God?”
In the man’s defense, he very soberly replied, “If you will give me an
opportunity worth pursuing, I would love to do something big for God!” So, my pastor did give
him that opportunity and the man came through in a big way financially to make it happen.
I’ve never forgotten that story; primarily because it’s not too often you really get the chance to do
something big for God. And, in my case, I don’t really have the capital to do something “big” for
God. Or do I? Well, on my own? No. However, along with my church family? Yes!
The title of our campaign is Expanding Our Vision and it is my prayer that each and every one
of us will ask the Lord to expand our vision of what He wants to do through us. For several years,
the leadership of this church has prayed and sought God’s direction for the future. The new addition
to our facility campus is, in my mind, the answer to our prayers.
Our motto is “To God Be The Glory… From Generation to Generation.” And as we look ahead to
the future (and even to the not-so-distant future), I have to tell you… we need this new expansion
of our facility. We need it for the families who are here now and for the families who will come to
us down the road. This facility is not being built as a monument to impress the community, but as
an instrument of the mission God has given us to reach out with the life-changing message of Jesus
Christ.
My friends, this is your opportunity to do something big for God while you’re still around to see
it happen! I am asking you to prayerfully consider your commitment to Expanding Our Vision so
that together we can see what great things the Lord has in store for this church as we move into the
future. Our God “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His
power that is at work within us….” (Ephesians 3:20)
Remember, this big thing the Lord is about to do through us will, hopefully, outlive us all. Let’s
be a part of something great. Together, let’s leave a legacy for future generations.
To God Be The Glory!
